Yoga Nidra

Hey guys, it's rapidly approaching that time of year again when I treat you all to your Christmas present that is Yoga Nidra :)
Yoga Nidra is a method of inducing complete physical, mental and emotional relaxation.
You will learn to relax consciously.
We may feel we're relaxing when we collapse on the sofa with a cup of coffee and switch on the tv, but these are only sensory diversions, true relaxation is actually an experience far beyond all this, for absolute relaxation you must remain aware, this is yoga nidra, the state of dynamic sleep.
You don't have to do yoga or meditate to enjoy yoga nidra, it's a simple practice taught lying down, guided by me for one hour.
In a typical yoga nidra session, I will guide you through several stages, starting with setting an intention for your life and for your practice, you then learn to focus yor awareness on your breath, bodily sensations, emotions and thoughts, when other thoughts slip into you conscious mind you are encourage to observe them, welcome them, and let them go without getting caught up in it.
In yoga nidra the state of relaxation is reached by turning inwards, away from outer experiences.
“Yoga nidra allows us to reach the most profound level of relaxation possible,” says Rod Stryker, the founder of Para-Yoga, “It opens a doorway to a place where we can see ourselves and our lives in the most positive light.”
Unlike other forms of meditation, in which you focus on a mantra or on your breath, yoga nidra asks you simply to let go. “The practice forces us to engage the muscle of surrender,” Stryker says.
The term Yoga Nidra is a derived from two Sanskrit words, yoga meaning union and nidra meaning sleep, during the practice of yoga nidra you may appear to be alseep but the consciousness is functioning at a deeper level of awareness, therefore yoga nidra is often referred to as psychic sleep or deep relaxation with inner awareness.

So if you're looking to relax, have reduced stress and better sleep in your life, come along to yoga nidra December 15th 8.15pm Please note, this class will now be held at the Church Hall in Edinbrugh Drive Staines.
